A member asked:

Can you explain to me why blood pressure and heart rate differ when measured in a reclining position and in a standing?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Position: When one is standing blood return from the legs is decreased and this causes increased heart rate and changes in peripheral resistance. Supine there is good return of blood to the heart and blood pressure will increase and heart rate usually be a bit lower because of the better stroke volume from better venous return.
