Hypoxia: When nitrous oxide is administered in a medical setting by a special manifold, there is always more oxygen flowing to your lungs than in regular air. In this way it is safe. Use of the gas without this manifold can result in oxygen levels in you blood to drop resulting in a potentially fatal scenario.
