Availability: Transplant lists are long because the organ is only available after a person dies. So you get the organ if a person does and the organ like a heart lung liver kidney is still healthy. You can donate a kidney and/or part of the liver while you are alive. Humans are living much longer than 100 years ago so we are wearing out our organs. Hope this helps.
