Rarely: Unfortunately metastatic (stage 4) colon cancer is rarely curable. That being said many patients will achieve long periods of remission/survival with combinations of surgery and chemotherapy. The overall 5yr survival rate however remains less than 10%. This emphasizes the need to follow through with screening colonoscopies as early stage colon cancer is highly curable.
