Possible: But less than 20% survive 5 years. Depends on where the metastases are and how numerous and size. Solitary liver mets without evidence elsewhere in the body can be cured with a liver resection. Diffuse mets to numerous body parts rarelyare curable.

Rarely: Unfortunately metastatic (stage 4) colon cancer is rarely curable. That being said many patients will achieve long periods of remission/survival with combinations of surgery and chemotherapy. The overall 5yr survival rate however remains less than 10%. This emphasizes the need to follow through with screening colonoscopies as early stage colon cancer is highly curable.
