Redness is due to : Inflammation causing redness. Artificial tear drops are a temporary, acute treatment for this. An eye drop called Restasis will treat the inflammation and improve redness. Restasis is a prescription drop.

In addition, you may have inflammation on the top of the eye, episcleritis or scleritis or in the front to the eye, irtis. You need the right diagnosis to get the treatment to get rid of red eyes. You need an eye exa.
