How can you explain a really bad pain?

Multiple ways: It can be described by it's characteristics like, sharp, burning, ect.... Also how it affects function like not being able to chew food with jaw pain. And it can be described by using a pain scale from 0 to 10 with 10 being the worst pain imaginable and 0 being no pain.
