Lytic therapy: Thrombolytic drugs are clot dissolvers. Most heart attacks are caused by clots in heart vessels. If we can't get a patient into the cath lab with dispatch then dissolving the clot in the heart vessel can help save heart muscle. We also use other medications in addition to thrombolytics.
