Injection treatment: Epidural injection or selective nerve root blocks are done for diagnostic and therapeutic (treatment) purposes. Typically, they are done under x-ray guidance by a qualified pain specialist. Usually, it involves injection of anti-inflammatory steroid for treatment or a local anesthetic for diagnostic purposes.
