Can you tell me about cataract surgery?

Highly successful: Cataract removal is almost always by ultrasonic fragmentation of the lens removing the opaque portions. It is done under local anesthesia (except in children), with substitution of an artificial lens to provide corrective focus. The procedure is rapid (25 minutes or so) with quick recovery to the full visual potential. It is a triumph of modern technology.

Cataract Surgery:how: The lens: usually clear, behind iris; is like a "pillow in a pillowcase". When cloudy/white & affecting vision, surgery needed. Goal: remove top part of pillow case (anterior capsule), remove pillow (cataract), keep back pillow case intact (posterior capsule), place a new lens; Goal: keep capsular bag intact; ultrasound tip can puncture/disrupt bag; More info: eyedoc2020.blogspot.com
