Good option: For those with moderate to significant astigmatism, which is a good portion of the population, choosing a toric lens implant for your cataract surgery will reduce your dependence on glasses post surgery. I advise my patients who have astigmatism to opt for a toric lens if they can afford the premium cost. If they can't, glasses will correct the astigmatism post surgery.

Toric IOL: Toric implants correct for astigmatism and distance vision. They do not correct for reading unless it is a Trulign (Crystalens Toric) or Restor Toric (still not available in US). Correcting astigmatism helps with visual distortion after successful cataract surgery. More info eyedoc2020.blogspot.com: Cataract Surgery Options
