Very difficult: You've asked a great question. In general, after age 21-25, the body only loses bone. Most of our osteoporosis medications inhibit additional loss of bone, but by inhibiting the resorption of bone, we also inhibit any new formation. A number of new medications have good initial results showing more bone formation, but they need more time to prove their value.

Prevent + Build: There are medciations that can improve bone loss in osteoporosis. Most medication prevent bone loss but studies also show improvement - especially with terapartide, a known anabolic agent, but also with Prolia and bispohosphonates both orally and injection. Your physician will be able to judge which is best for you.

Unlikely: Once there is bone loss, it is difficult to "regrow" the bone that was lost.
