Does a high grade partial tear of the medial retinaculum require surgery or is physical therapy a better option?

Try Pt first: I assume u dislocated your kneecap( patella ). If u tore your medial patellofemoral ligament (mpfl) ( medial retinaculum ) the initial tx is geared to strengthening your quads( specifically the vmo). If your patella continues to 'slip' despite quad strengthening / patellar brace see an ors adept at knee injuries. Surgery can involve repair/ reconstruction of the mpfl . Gl!
