Cold Sensitivity: Without a dental exam you can't be sure, but there are a few possibilities. If the sensitivity is along the gum line, it is probably due to some gum recession and the root surface is exposed, which can be very sensitive. Cold sensitivity can also be a sign of a fracture or crack. See your dentist.

A few thoughts..: Teeth have nerves in them, and even perfectly healthy teeth can be sensitive with a very cold or hot stimulus. However, if it has been more than six months since your last dental exam and the sensitivity just started, it might mean that you have a cavity. Best bet is to have it checked out by a local dentist.

See your dentist: Tooth sensitivity to cold occurs when the dentin of a tooth is exposed due to abrasion, trauma, decay or infection. The treatment depends on the cause of sensitivity. See your dentist for diagnosis and proper treatment if needed.
