More training better: A medical assistant has less training than a dialysis technician and is ready to work more quickly. However, the opportunity for advancement is limited forcing further training such as nursing school. A dialysis technician must become certified after more extensive training. Dialysis jobs are available throughout the country after certification. Job security is better in the dialysis position.
