Intercostal pain: Most likely you have muscular pain arising from the intercostal muscles (muscles between your ribs) or the costochondral junctions (a form of arthritis), but it's possible that you have actual pleurisy (usually would not improve with compression), regardless, the treatment is an anti-inflammatory such as Ibuprofen and avoiding deep breaths for a few days. Heat may help too.
