Doctor can evaluate: Chest tightness, chest pain, and shortness of breath can be due to minor problems or to very serious ones. A doctor can check to see what might be going on. Sometimes, tests and chest x-rays will be done. Possible causes include a partial pneumothorax (collapsed lung), asthma, reflux, heart problems, vocal cord problems, etc... Such symptoms are usually evaluated by an Emergency Room.
