Wait and see: Current medical literature recommends observation for spontaneous labor until at least 39 weeks gestation, regardless of estimated fetal weight.. If there is suspicion that your baby is excessively big (estimated to be over about 10 pounds) then cesarean delivery may be indicated. A trial of labor is still appropriate in most cases, as only about 1 in 4 women in america will require a cesarean.
