What is the best way to take temp of a 2 year old?

Ear OK: The goal of taking the temperature of a child is to determine if they have a fever, which is a temperature over 100.4 f or 38 c. In a baby 6 months or less, it is important to get as accurate of a temp as possible, therefore use a rectal thermometer. In a 2 year old, an estimated temp is fine, so a thermometer which uses the ear or temporal artery is fine and much less invasive.

Ear & temporal: Ear, temporal and axillary are all good at this age. But rectal is the best, but not ideal for obvious reasons. Rectal is the preferred for infants less than 90 days old as fever in this age group is extremely indicative of serious infection.
