Sprained ankle 6 months ago, last few days ankle and foot have got swollen and causing lots of discomfort should i get checked out?

Must be evaluated.: A bad ankle sprain can cause serious ligament damage. This can lead to chronic problems such as instability or frequent re-spraining of the ankle. You need to be seen by a physician for proper evaluation. X-rays, and MRI are most likely indicated. You might only need some rest and physical therapy, but you also may need surgery for optimal recovery. Make an appointment.

Have it evaluated: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. One would need to do a thorough history and physical exam and possibly some radiology exams to determine the exact cause. Have it evaluated by a professional to see if you have fractured it of if it is just a soft tissue injury such as a contusion or a sprain. You may have injured nerves, blood vesicles, muscles, ligaments or tendons.
