Can anyone tell me a little about lung cavities and what they could mean?

Depends: Normally, there are no cavities in lungs. People can develop emphysematous blebs and bullae from smoking, sometimes be born with apical or intraparenquimal blebs bullae. Cavitary lung lesions may be caused by tuberculosis or fungal disease. Alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency, bronchiectasis also can lead to them. People with necrotizing panniculitis may develop them.
