Yes, you can get: The herpes simplex virus without having sexual intercourse. Don't know the actual odds. Hsv -2 can be spread through vaginal, anal ; oral sex. The herpes simplex virus-1 can spread to the genitals by mouth to genital contact or genital to genital contact.

It is most commonly caught during childhood from other family members. Herpes type two is found in 25% of us and is thought to be most closely identified as the std herpes. Skin to skin means it can be caught even without intercours.
