Yes, you can get: The herpes simplex virus without having sexual intercourse. Don't know the actual odds. Hsv -2 can be spread through vaginal, anal ; oral sex. The herpes simplex virus-1 can spread to the genitals by mouth to genital contact or genital to genital contact.

Herpes: Herpes is a virus that is transmitted skin to skin or infected fluids to skin. There are two types of herpes, type one is the 'oral version and is found 75% of us. It is most commonly caught during childhood from other family members. Herpes type two is found in 25% of us and is thought to be most closely identified as the std herpes. Skin to skin means it can be caught even without intercours.
