Do you know the benefits to not packing a lanced abscess and is it a good way to heal?

Needs packing: The abscess cavity needs to have a light wicking from packing material, but it does not have to be jammed packed with the packing material. If you don't keep the top open from an abscess, you run the risk of having that close up before the abcess cavity gets to fill in.
