Brain pressure: An intracranial pressure (icp) monitor is a device placed by a neurosurgeon to measure pressure in the brain. The most common scenario is after trauma or accident, or after some brain surgery, when there is concern that brain pressure may be high. By monitoring for elevation in the pressure, the neurosurgeon can take steps to reduce the elevated pressure to avoid severe brain injury.
