Depends if they are: Causing problems. A study of asymptomatic patients (no pain or other issues) showed that roughly 40% have bulging or mildly herniated discs and no issues. You may want to be more careful and work on core strengthening to help support those discs. Exercise, hydrate, and keep in shape and as long as you don't notice symptoms, you may just be part of that 40%!

Bulging discs: In general, if you are not having any neurological symptoms, disc bulges as we age are rather common and nothing to be overly concerned about. If you do experience pain in your back or legs, you can see a surgeon, but physical therapy is usually the first approach. If you experience and weakness in your feet or legs or loss of bowel or bladder control, you should seek emergent evaluation.
