Possibly: Sedative use for a very limited time under close observation can be safe and beneficial, but they are a potentially dangerous drug class. Memory can be impaired in more than one way too. New memories will not be well established in a mind that is in a chemical fog and retrieval of old memories will be slower and more difficult. Hopefully, some time after quitting, memory function will recover.

Possible: This class of drugs might cause anticholinergic side effects, and several meds together could cause additive side effects.
