Stroke is a term: To describe blood vessel dysfunction in brain and spinal cord (c/w "heart attack"). Classically, the blood vessel gets plugged by a local clot or an embolism and downstream nerve cells can die. On occasion a blood vessel may rupture causing internal bleeding and nerve cell damage. Warning signs such as sudden loss of vision in one eye, loss of speech, weakness unilaterally, go to er.
