Maybe . . .: For just about any injury, ice is the key to minimizing swelling. Well that plus rest, compression & elevation. However, if you did more than bruise your hand, especially if you've "lost a knuckle" (it's no longer visible when you make a fist), you might have broken a bone & should go see your family doc. Any numbness, tingling, weakness and/or excess bleeding needs to be evaluated immediately.
