Yes, arterial: Two systems artery and vein. Artery takes blood away from heart so clot can travel to brain/kidney/leg/ very severe and life threatening. Venous returns blood to heart. So usually form in legs and travel to heart and end up in lungs pulmonary emboli. Coronary vessels in heart they can cause heart attacks anything that travels in the blood is embolic.

Yes: An embolism means a blockage of blood flow. Whether it's a blood clot in your veins, arteries or heart, they can all be types of emboli. Air, fat and amniotic fluid can also be a type of emboli.

Embolic source: Embolisms are pieces of material that go from one part of the circulation to another usually causing damage to the tissue or organ system they end up in. In general embolisms are pieces of clotted blood or plaque that is broken off of the inside of an artery or heart valve. So to answer your question, if the embolism is from a piece of plaque it is considered an atherosclerotic embolism.
