Yes: The medial meniscus is a half moon shaped piece of cartilage on the inside of the knee joint and can tear with injury. There is one on the outside also. If you have locking or collapsing of the knee you will require some type of surgery to releive. Arthroscopic or open surgery of knee can be done to releive the problem. You can function well after surgery. An orthopaedic surgeon does both.
