How do i know if i have a chalazion or a stye?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different stages: An internal stye, instead of going away, sometimes is surrounded by a cystic wall called a chalazion. Styes are tender, inflamed, red and active. Chalazion feel like a pea in the lid , and are not tender or inflamed. They can be surgically removed in an ophthalmologists office if they are bothersome.
