A member asked:

Could you remind me of recent breakthrough on a new drug for alzheimers?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO new drugs: Multiple newer meds have not been approved by the fda, and some of the newest approaches seem also destined for failure such as ivig on its own, or bapineuzamab. A better approach is to combine Namenda (memantine) with a cholinesterase inhibitor, and perhaps add a medical food such as axona.
