Not a simple answer: At a certain level, mild rectocele is normal and should not be treated. If you have a rectocele that is symptomatic, you will feel that you have an easier time having bowel movements when you have your fingers placed against the back wall of your vagina. Prolapse in a general term refers to a different process.
