What disease?: What disease are we talking about. Some diseases are sex-linked, and so it is possible for a certain sex child (usually the son) to inherit actual disease when just one parent has trait. Other diseases require both parents to be trait carriers to manifest disease in offspring. Need to know what disease you are concerned about...

It depends: It depends on which disease you are referring to. If it is a recessive gene ( as in sickle cell disease) then the child can only get the disease if both parents have the trait. If it is a dominant gene, then it requires only one parent to carry the gene for the child to get the disease
