A member asked:

How do you known which parent give the child the sickle cell trait?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You test both to see: This is a simple test, a hemoglobin electrophoresis. If a kid has trait, at least one or possibly both parents may have it.It would be quite rare for the kid to have a new mutation and neither parent have it.
