YES!!! Many impacts!: Good question. Adults need 5-8000 iu of vit d to achieve optimal levels in fall ; winter (year-round if you don't get mid-day sun). Low vit d in pregnancy is associated with increased risk of gestational diabetes, preeclampsia ; babies with low birth-weight.
