Stop Vaseline: Try lighter creams or lotion that can moisturize the skin. The best are those for sensitive skin that do not contain fragrances or other ingredients that can cause irritation.

Sunscreen.: Living in nigeria, knowing that your skin darkens with a plain moisturizer with no preservative such as vaseline petroleum jelly, it is likely that you simply need a good sunscreen with spf of 30 or higher, and containing both uva and uvb protection. This sunscreen should be applied every 2 hours you are out of doors. My suspicion is that with vaseline and no sunscreen, you are getting dark.
