Parenting: Is hard, because it is never easy for two people to agree on how best to raise children. Add to this the emotions and hurt feelings linked to broken dreams of a divorce, joint custody can make parenting even harder. Every family is unique, but welfare of children must come first. It is not about fair division of custody, but what is best to prevent future problems. Family evaluation is helpful.

Assuming: If both parents are good with the children, and can work out a way of working with each other that puts the child's interest first, yes. And this is the presumption courts generally make. Solnit and his co-authors anna freud and joseph goldstein have written 3 books on the subject that are compassionate, psychologically deep and that have profoundly influenced law and public policy.
