Respect: As a parent you are the best teacher. Therefore, it is important that you set examples for them. Control will only foster rebellion later on.

Discipline : Children need structure, consistentcy, and love. They do not need insults, deprecation, or insecurity. Your ultimate goal is to raise a responsible adult, not one that feels inadequate or inferior. That doesn't mean that kids need to be given everything they want, but they need to be respected as the individuals they are, at the same time guided ( not pressured) into responsible adulthood.
