A member asked:

Is it possible to lose weight when you have hypothyroidism? if so, how? is there any diet pills that can give me a boost?

Hypothyroid weight: Once you are on the correct dose of levothyroxine, your metabolic rate should be normal, and there should not be a problem with losing weight. At least no more problem than anyone else. Available diet pills are not good. You are better off developing a healthy diet/exercise program.

Take synthroid (thyroxine) first: Once you have normalized your T4 and TSH with thyroid medication, then it is no harder or easier to lose weight than normal because your thyroid function will be normal. Do not use diet pills.
