Crepitance: Crepitance is the term for that "noise". When cartilage is healthy, the two sides of the joint will glide smoothly over the other. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage surface becomes irregular leading to a crunching sound. In the neck, it is the facet joint in the back of the neck that often contribute to this complaint. Thank you.
