This is extremely : Unusual. Do you have any other medical problems? Have x-rays been taken to make sure the underlying bone has not gotten infected? Has any drainage been cultured to see if the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotics you aretaking? What antibiotics were given to you thus far? If the dr. States you need IV antibiotics - listen.
