Are expensive shoes needed for person getting back into exercise?

No: If you're just getting back into exercising, start with walking or low-impact aerobics. You'll need a good, basic athletic shoe, which shouldn't break your bank account. If you're not sure what to get, shop around at athletic shoe stores and choose a comfortable, sturdy pair of shoes. They should feel good as soon as you put them on and shouldn't rub.

No: If you are are starting an exercise program you should have sneakers with good support. Many inexpensive sneakers have good arch support. You can also use a decent insert to help give your feet the support they need.
