Green much healthier: Green tea has been proven to have remarkable health benefits because it is rich in antioxidant polyphenols known as catechins, as well as l-theanine which has a calming effect. Black tea is green tea that has been oxidized and fermented, a process that destroys most of the beneficial catechins & theanine. In a sense, black tea is green tea that is spoiled. Green Tea: Tea is derived from the camellia sinensis tree. The leaves contain antioxidant polyphenols which have an anti-carcinogenic effect. Lighter tea (white & green) is less processed. Black tea is dried & fermented. Studies suggest green tea can assist with glycemic control as well as reduced heart disease death rate. There are more studies around that suggest benefits from green tea than for black.
