A member asked:

Help my girlfriend has alopecia, bald patches on her head. are there any remedies to this? is there anything she could do or change to help stop this.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See a dermatologist: A dermatologist needs to see your girlfriend to examine what is going on. Discrete bald spots suggests alopecia areata. This can often resolve on its own but sometimes requires injection of the patches with a low concentration of a steroid. This can help reduce any inflammation that may be preventing the hair from growing.
