Baby w thrush: If your baby has yeast infection in her mouth it is likely that you have yeast on your nipples. Signs of a nipple yeast infection include nipple redness, pain with breastfeeding and skin irritation. If baby has been diagnosed it is important that you are also treated with an antifungal medication otherwise infection will continue to be passed between you two. See your pcp for treatment.

Possibly: Often time the baby & mom will 'ping pong' the infection back &forth especially if the mom has any cracks on the nipples. Often times the knowledgable physician will treat both mom & babe. Sometimes because the pediatrician will not write a prescription for the mom, & woman's ob/gyn will not write a script without a visit, and then sometimes not even then. Family drs. Don't have this problem.
