A member asked:

I had an early ultrasound at 5 weeks 5 days, my notes say right collapsing corpus luteum, is it normal to be collapsing?im worrying myself sick.thanks

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not a probl: What is collapsing is the cyst that developed from the corpus luteum. Corpus luteum cysts are common in early pregnancy. I don't think there is good evidence that the collapse or rupture of a corpus luteum cyst will have much effect on the pregnancy. As long as the corpus luteum keeps working and producing progesterone, your pregnancy will usually continue normally.
