Check up: For some people a bm every 5 days is normal but this would be almost a life long pattern. If this represents a change in your normal bowel pattern you should be checked for colon problems like a partial blockage. The discomfort in the left abdomen may be related to left colon problems like diverticulitis, tumor, irritable bowel syndrome or other types of colitis. Have an exam by your pcp.

There could be: Many reasons for this but any new change in bowel habits with or without pain should be evaluated by your doctor with a possible follow up colonoscopy.
