Neurosyphilis: Neurosyphilis is an infection of brain/spinal cord caused by untreated syphilis (caused by the bacteria treponema palladum). It is a late complication. It may be asymptomatic or manifest with different neurological problems (e.g. Abnormal walking, poor reflexes, dementia, etc...) a neurological exam (including imaging) and blood tests for syphilis are done. Treatment is usually with penicillin.
