See below : As you described this is an intermittent problem that occurs at various different areas. I would see a dermatologist and therefore he can do a thorough history and physical exam . Try to see him when you have the problem good luck thank you.

See your PCP to rule: Gout as multiple joint involvement most likely points towards it. Proper evaluation/investigations would provide the diagnosis so treatment could be started.
