A member asked:

My sister is pregnant 24 weeks and her cervical length is 3.2cm. will this cause preterm labour? our mother has had both her deliveries pretem.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal: This is, in fact, a normal cervical length. The point at which one would worry about cervical length would be one that was less than 3 cm. If your sister is having any contractions are cramping she should go to the doctor and have the cervical length repeated. Most doctors will offer steroids to accelerate babies lung maturity for women with shortening cervical length.
